McDonald’s buys back 225 Israeli franchises

Fast food group McDonald’s has bought back 225 Israeli franchise stores from Israeli company Alonyal. The two sides did not disclose the transaction price.

McDonald’s said that all branch employees will be retained on an equal footing.

Alonyal has been operating McDonald’s franchises in Israel for more than 30 years. After the outbreak of the Israel-Palestine conflict in October last year, McDonald’s outlets in Israel were boycotted by local pro-Palestinian groups, resulting in a significant reduction in revenue. McDonald’s outlets in other parts of the world also face boycott calls.
